ANS: The scheme of the examination is available on this website at HOME > SCHEME & SYLLABUS and HOME > TRADE ELIGIBILITY.

ANS: The written examination will be conducted at 12 centres i.e., Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Kanpur, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Trichy. Additional centres like Bhopal, Lucknow and Dehradun may be included. Candidates may be allotted any other centre other than the one determined at the time of submission of online application for administrative reasons. No request for change of centre shall be entertained under any circumstances at any stage of the examination.

ANS: The examination will be held tentatively in the month of August 2017. However, the exact date of the examination will be published on www.ofb.gov.in and this portal.

ANS: Candidates should take note that any addendum/corrigendum, changes etc in respect of change in calendar of events, vacancies and other relevant information etc. will be uploaded / published through e-portal, www.ofb.gov.in/ and this dedicated examination website only and no separate notice will be issued in this regard anywhere else. Candidates are required to give a valid mobile Number and e-mail id for periodical notices. Error in these details will result in non-delivery of important communication with respect to the examination. Candidates are advised to retain the same Mobile Number and email ID till all the processes of the said recruitment drive are completed and also advised to keep visiting this web portal.

ANS: Candidate can apply to one factory only, as per his/her choice. Merit list will be prepared factory wise. The written examination centre will be automatically allotted to the candidates, based on their selection of the factory chosen.

ANS: The candidate is required to make an informed decision and apply accordingly against ONE post/trade of one factory only, subject to eligibility as per Annexure-‘B’. You can also find this information on this website at HOME > TRADE ELIGIBILITY.

NOTE: In certain trade/post such as Examiner (Engg), if a candidate wishes to apply for more than one trade (wherever applicable and eligible as mentioned in Annexure-‘B’ as “Single Application”), she/he must give their choice of trade in the order of preference among the options, while filling the online application. In such cases, candidates will be empanelled based on merit-cum-choice subject to suitability. Post allotted to a candidate at first opportunity of empanelment in such a situation shall not be reviewed/revised/re-allotted under any circumstances.The candidate is required to make an informed decision and apply accordingly against ONE post/trade of one factory only, subject to eligibility as given above.

ANS: The examination will be trilingual, i.e., Hindi, English and regional language of the State where the factory against which the candidate has applied is located. With reference to Ordnance Factories and their respective locations, this translates to English, Hindi & any one regional language among the following- Bengali/ Marathi/Oriya/Tamil/Telugu. It may be noted that candidates can appear only for that regional language of the state where the factory concerned is located and will have to appear for examination in that State/Centre only.

ANS: Yes, Ex-Trade Apprentices of Ordnance Factories and candidates who have registered with employment exchange are required to apply online through this website. There is no exception available and all the applicants are required to apply ONLINE necessarily.

ANS: Yes, Degree/Diploma in engineering holders without possessing NAC/NTC shall not be accepted as qualification for the posts of Semi-Skilled Industrial Employees against this advertisement.

ANS. Yes, Candidates will have to arrange their own scribe at their own cost for the written examination. The following categories can avail the assistance of a scribe if such a request is made at the time of application itself:

  1. Visually handicapped (VH) with disabilities of forty percent (40%) or above
  2. Orthopedically handicapped candidates afflicted by Cerebral Palsy
  3. Orthopedically handicapped candidate (other than a candidate afflicted by Cerebral Palsy) who has a loco motor disability (40% or more) wherein dominant writing extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of the candidate

NOTE: A compensatory time of 20 minute per hour in the written examination will be extended to all the above candidates at (i), (ii) and (iii).

ANS: Only SC/ST candidates and Physically Disabled Ex-Servicemen called for trade test/practical test/document verification may be paid Travelling Allowance, as per extant Government rules.
No Travelling Allowance will be paid to any candidate for appearing in the written examination.

ANS: No, SC/ST candidate in service and under the Central/ State Government, Corporation, Public Sector Undertakings, local Government institutions/ Panchayat will NOT be eligible for such reimbursement.

ANS: All candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.50/- as application fees. The following categories of candidates are, however, exempted from payment of fees:

  1. SC
  2. ST
  3. PWD
  4. Women
  5. Ex-Servicemen who have not secured employment in civil side under Central Government in Group ‘C’ posts on regular basis after availing of the benefits of reservation given to ex-servicemen (OM NO. 36034/1/2014-Estt (Res) dated 14.08.2014 issued by DOP&T.)

ANS: No, The Candidates applying for the vacancies should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for admission to examination. Their admission to all the stages of the selection procedure will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of admit card to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally accepted by OFRC/OFB. Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents will be done only at the time of trade test/practical test in the respective factories. If on verification of documents (at any stage during the selection process) it is found that they do not fulfil any of the eligibility conditions, their candidature for the examination will be cancelled.

ANS: The candidates are advised to examine all the vacancies as specified in Annexure-‘A’ or HOME>VACANCY POSITION and take an informed decision. Please be informed that age relaxation (relaxed standards) would be applicable only for posts reserved for SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer. For unreserved posts, though SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer candidates can apply, they should be within the age limit. It might be possible that you have exceeded the age limit for unreserved posts.

ANS: The candidates are advised to examine all the vacancies as specified in Annexure-‘A’ (HOME >VACANCY POSITION) taking into account their eligibility at Annexure-‘D’ (Posts identified suitable for physically disabled category) and take an informed decision.If the post is not identified for your category of PWD, you will not be allowed to apply.

ANS: Yes. You will be eligible for age relaxation even if the post is not reserved for Ex Servicemen.

ANS: Yes. You will be eligible for age relaxation even if the post is not reserved for Physically Handicapped category, provided the post is identified for PH as per Annexure-‘D’.

ANS: Meritorious sportsperson in categories of sports specified as per extant rules (O.M. No. 14034/01/2013-Estt-(D) dated 03.10.2013) will be eligible for age relaxation in upper age limit up to a maximum of 5 years (10 years in case of those belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes and 8 years in case of those belonging to Other Backward Classes).

APPLICATION STAGE

ANS: The closing date of application 10.07.2017. The candidates are advised to apply well before the closing date to avoid any kind of delay/technical difficulty.

ANS: The following documents are needed to be uploaded at the time of application stage, as per applicability, as and when prompted to.

  1. Community Certificate by the candidate seeking reservation as SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer in the PRESCRIBED PROFORMA from the competent authority.
  2. Physically Handicapped certificate in prescribed Performa issued by the Competent Authority for physically handicapped persons eligible for appointment to the posts on the basis of prescribed standards of Medical Fitness.
  3. Discharge Certificate issued by the competent authorities for candidates claiming Ex-Serviceman category.
  4. NAC/NTC certificate of Ex Trade Apprentices clearly specifying name of Ordnance Factory concerned on or before the closing date of application(Please note that Ex Trade Apprentices mean candidates who have completed apprenticeship training from any of the Ordnance Factories only and not other organisation)

ANS: Yes. After the candidate has successfully submitted his/her application ONLINE in PART I registration on the portal, they shall be allotted Application Registration Number (ARN). The candidate can choose the password for the same. However, the candidate will be able to login to his page at HOME>APPLICANT LOGIN by using any of the two options:

  1. Application Registration Number (ARN) + Password
  2. Application Registration Number (ARN) + Date of Birth

ANS: This could happen due to two reasons:

  1. You have entered incorrect mobile number in PART I. Please re-register with correct mobile number.
  2. In case you have submitted correct mobile number, please wait for at least 3-4 hours before re-registering. There may be a delay in delivery of SMS due to network issues. In case both the above options do not work, then please submit your query through the Help Desk available at HOME>Help Desk.

ANS: After completing PART I of the registration process, the candidate will receive a Application Registration Number on his registered mobile number. Thereafter, the candidate should complete PART II of the registration process by logging into APPLICANT LOGIN with his Application Registration Number (ARN) + Date of Birth (Or) Password. The candidate can view the details entered in Part I of the registration process in his Login ID. If the candidate wants to change any details that he/she has entered in Part I, then he/she will have to delete the entire registration and apply afresh. The candidates will be provided an option to delete or confirm their registration. In case, the candidate is of the opinion that the details furnished in PART I are wrong then she/he should delete her/his registration by clicking on ‘CANCEL REGISTRATION ‘.
Once this is done, the candidate will be able to re-apply with the original mobile number, email ID and other details itself.

ANS: No, The acceptable Photo IDs are:

  1. Passport
  2. Voter photo identity card
  3. Driving License issued by RTO
  4. PAN Card
  5. Photo Identity card having serial number issued by Central/State Government
  6. Unique Identification Card "Aadhaar"
  7. Photo identity cards having serial number issued by public sector Undertakings of State/Central Government, District Administrations, Municipal bodies and Panchayat Administrations.
In case you do not have any of these aforementioned Photo IDs, then you will NOT be allowed to enter the examination hall.
The candidate should also bring the Original Photo ID along with them.Entry will be prohibited to candidates who do not produce any one of the above original Photo ID when asked for at the examination venue.

ANS: No, Only those candidates who possess the requisite qualifications as on the closing date of applications, i.e. 10.07.2017 will be eligible to appear in the written examination. Please note that the eligibility criteria is NAC/NTC issued by NCVT only.

ANS: The prescribed formats for SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer/PWD/Ex Serviceman are available at HOME>CERTIFICATE FORMATS. The formats are to be strictly complied to.

ANS: The candidate can retrieve the same in the ‘APPLICANT LOGIN’ section, under ‘Forgot Registration Number/Password’, by giving details like (e mail ID (OR) Date of Birth)and (Mobile Number and Date of Birth). The Application Registration Number (ARN) will be resent on the mobile number registered in the application process.

ANS: Candidates are NOT required to send hard copy of application or admit card to the respective Factory/OFRC/OFB. However, the same shall be printed and retained by the candidates only to be produced by the candidates later, at the time of document verification/trade test. Only ONLINE applications shall be accepted through this website or through a link on our official website www.ofb.gov.in. The admit card duly signed by the invigilator shall be required to be produced by the candidates at the time of document verification.

ANS: In the exceptional circumstance that the candidate’s mobile number has been changed, the candidate may intimate the same through the Help Desk.
Note: Candidates are required to give a valid mobile Number and e-mail id for periodical notices. Error in these details will result in non-delivery of important communication with respect to the examination. Candidates are advised to retain the same Mobile Number and email ID till all the processes of the said recruitment drive are completed.

ANS: Yes. By logging into 'APPLICANT LOGIN' by using his/her ARN and password/Date of Birth, the candidate can take a reprint of his/her application form. In case of any difficulty, the candidate may intimate the same through the Help Desk.

ANS: The application or candidature of the candidate may be rejected for any of the following reasons:

  1. Incomplete Application
  2. Fees not remitted where applicable
  3. Fees Details not entered/Fees Details not correctly (for SBI Challan only) entered while submitting the ONLINE application.
  4. Does not possess the prescribed qualification for the post of Direct Recruitment of Industrial Employees (Semi-Skilled) and Labour Group-‘C’ as on closing date of submission of on-line application.
  5. Over aged or under aged or Date of Birth not filled or wrongly filled.
  6. Double or multiple applications submitted.
  7. Application without clear photo, photo with cap, wearing goggles, disfigured or unclear or unidentifiable photo and clear signature.
  8. Candidate's name is figuring in the debarred list.
  9. Only a single application will be entertained. Candidature in respect of multiple applications (if found) may be rejected out rightly, without any notice to such candidates.
  10. Mismatch of Name, Father's name and Date of Birth in ONLINE application form with the 10th certificate/NAC/NTC certificate.
  11. Irrelevance between the applied trade and the NAC/NTC trade certificate.
  12. Any eligibility conditions as per advertisement details.
  13. Any other irregularities which may render the candidature of applicant invalid by OFB/OFRC.

ANS: Ex Trade Apprentices are those trade apprentices who have completed their apprenticeship from any of the Ordnance Factories, under department of defence production, Ministry of Defence.
They are also eligible for age relaxation for the period of apprenticeship training undergone in the respective Ordnance Factories.

ANS: Yes. Ex Servicemen who have secured employment Civil side under Central Government in Group 'C' posts on regular basis after availing of the benefits of reservation given to Ex-servicemen for their re-employment can avail of the benefit of reservation as Ex-serviceman for subsequent employment. They should however give date wise details of application for various vacancies for which she/he had applied for before joining the initial civil employment (as mentioned in the OM NO. 36034/1/2014-Estt (Res) dated 14.08.2014 issued by DOP&T.)

FEE PAYMENT

ANS: Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 50/- as application fees. While filling the online application, the candidate will be directed to the payment gateway to remit the application fees.
Only SC/ST/Women/Ex-Servicemen (eligible for reservation#) /PWD only are exempted from payment of fee.

ANS: The candidates may remit the money through the following modes:

  1. credit card
  2. debit card
  3. Net banking
  4. Cash Challan at SBI

ANS: The candidate may pay by cash (Challan Mode) in any branch of SBI through the SBI challan which can be generated and downloaded from this website. Applicants shall take a print out of the printed SBI challan from this website and deposit the fees in a nearby branch of SBI, with details. Applicants who pay by cash (Challan Mode) should take a printout of the system generated Challan Slip during PART-II of the registration and deposit the fee at an SBI branch counter through the printed Challan on the same or next working day. The candidate would then be required to upload the challan duly stamped along with the transaction number by logging into this website in HOME>APPLICANT LOGIN, using his Application Registration Number and Password/Date of Birth and fill the required information.

ANS: The application fee is Rs 50/- only. SBI is levying Rs 71/- as Banking Charges and thus the candidate is required to pay Rs 121/- and hence this mode of payment may be avoided.

ANS: It is essential that the challan be uploaded in the HOME>APPLICANT LOGIN. Only then will the registration be treated as successful. Applications without fees will be treated as incomplete registrations and out rightly rejected.
In case of technical difficulty, the same can be escalated through the HOME>HELP DESK. NOTE: Applicants’ names whose payment details have not been received from the bank will be displayed on the website within two weeks after the last day of submission of online application as non payment cases. All such applications without the fees will be out rightly rejected.

ANS: Applicants who are unable to pay the amount on the closing date even with valid Challan Slip will have the option for online payment mode through other mode which will be open until 23:55 hours of 10th July 2017. Any cash payment (Challan Mode) after the closing date of application will not be valid and will not be refunded.

ANS: NO. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. The paid fees shall also not be carried forward for any other examination or selection.

ANS: The following situations may arise:

1. In case of a network failure, it is possible that the amount may have been debited from your account and the transaction may be unsuccessful. You may please wait for 24 hours before attempting to pay the fees again.
2. The transaction may be successful, but it might not reflect in the website You may please wait for 24 hours and then login HOME>APPLICANT LOGIN to check if the registration was successful or not.
3. My account has been debited but the transaction was unsuccessful. The unsuccessful transaction amount will be credited back to your account.But in order to proceed with the registration, you may please wait for 24 hours before attempting to pay the fees again.

NOTE: In all the above cases of unsuccessful fee transaction, you are advised not to attempt to make the payment twice instantly in such circumstances. Fee once paid will not be refundable. All the candidates are also advised to apply sufficiently in advance.

ANS: It is strongly advised to wait for 24 hours before attempting to pay the fees again. However, please ascertain that you pay and complete the process before the closing (last) date. Any application or transaction will not be considered valid after the closing date of application. Also, in case of such multiple fee payments by candidates by mistake or otherwise, please note that the fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.
